Who We Are

Sixty years young, and still answering Bengaluru's call

Rotary Bangalore South is a fellowship of professionals, entrepreneurs and community leaders united by one idea: that service to others is the finest use of our talents.

The Club

A club with the soul of old Bengaluru and the energy of the new

Chartered on 12 December 1966 under the sponsorship of the Rotary Club of Bangalore, Rotary Bangalore South was created to serve the city's rapidly growing southern neighbourhoods — Basavanagudi, Jayanagar and beyond. Today we are a member club of Rotary International District 3191, part of a global network of some 1.4 million people of action in more than 46,000 clubs.

Over six decades we have earned a reputation as one of the district's most consistent, most decorated clubs: a Rotary Foundation Hall of Honor club, a 100% Paul Harris Fellow club since 2006, twice honoured among the best clubs of the district, and the home club of five District Governors.

We meet every Wednesday at 7:00 PM at the VVN College Auditorium in Basavanagudi. Our meetings blend fellowship with substance — guest speakers, project planning and the friendships that have always been Rotary's quiet superpower. Visitors are always welcome.

What is Rotary?

A global family of people of action

Rotary began in Chicago in 1905 as the world's first service club. Its principal motto, Service Above Self, is our compass; its guiding documents are our charter for how we work and why.

The Object of Rotary

To encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

First. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

Second. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

Third. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;

Fourth. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

The Five Avenues of Service

Club Service — strengthening fellowship and the effective functioning of the club.

Vocational Service — serving others through our professions and practising high ethical standards.

Community Service — projects that improve life in our community.

International Service — expanding Rotary's humanitarian reach and promoting world understanding and peace.

Youth Service — empowering the next generation through leadership development, service and exchange.

Family of Rotary

One club, many generations of service

Service in the South family does not begin or end with Rotarians. We sponsor and mentor a vibrant ecosystem of clubs for every age.

Inner Wheel Club of Bangalore South

Our partners in service — the Inner Wheel Club of Bangalore South works alongside us on community projects, from health camps to education support, carrying forward one of the world's largest women's service movements.

Rotaract Clubs

We sponsor Rotaract clubs for young adults — including the Rotaract Club of Bangalore South and the Rotaract Club of RVCE — where tomorrow's leaders learn service, professionalism and friendship.

Interact Clubs

In schools across south Bengaluru — including National High School, VVN, JSS Public School and others — our Interact clubs introduce students aged 12–18 to the joy of service.

Rotary Community Corps

Our RCCs empower local communities to design and drive their own development — a partnership model that makes service sustainable long after a project ends.

Rotary Senior Citizen Sangha

A fellowship for the elders of our community, offering connection, activity and care — because service embraces every stage of life.

Clubs We Have Sponsored

Rotary grows by giving life to new clubs. Among others, we proudly sponsored the charter of Rotary Bangalore Spandana, extending the family of service we began building in 1966.

Come and see us in action

The best way to understand Rotary is to sit in a meeting, meet the members and hear the stories. Wednesdays, 7 PM, Basavanagudi.
